Overview.
EV charging software is fragmented. Many vendors ship their own stacks. Interoperability is weak and integrations take months. Charger makers need to support protocols like OCPP and add features across many hardware variants. That slows launches and raises cost. Operators then inherit mixed systems that are hard to manage and keep compliant. The market needs a common software base that shortens development and standardizes behavior.
PIONIX created EVerest, an open-source firmware stack for EV charging that provides a standardized, interoperable foundation for charger manufacturers and ecosystem players, enabling faster development, reduced complexity, and broad compatibility. On top of EVerest, PIONIX monetizes via a freemium model with commercial products and services, including ChargeBridge, a certified hardware and low-level firmware module, as well as cloud and tooling layers for device management, testing, and operations, helping customers accelerate time-to-market while outsourcing complexity.
Why we invested.
We like standardization plays when a market fragments early. An open base can become the default layer across OEMs and component suppliers, and EVerest is positioned at the center of the EV charging stack as a shared, interoperable firmware foundation with growing ecosystem adoption. On top, ChargeBridge and cloud and service layers provide a clear monetization path, turning open-source adoption into commercial products that reduce integration complexity and accelerate time-to-market.
