Overview.
Industrial companies are under increasing pressure to claim the sustainability of their products, both from regulation, e.g. Renewable Energy Directives 1, 2, 3, Refuel EU Maritime & Aviation, EU ETS, CBAM, and from markets, e.g. Amazon’s “Climate Pledge friendly”. Today’s compliance and verification processes are largely manual and not fit for purpose: costly to prepare and execute, prone to error and fraud, and slow to adapt to changing regulations.
atmen’s IoT and SaaS platform turns plant-level operational data into certification-grade evidence. It verifies renewable origin, quantifies emissions, and streamlines issuance of government-approved certificates. It started with green hydrogen and ammonia and is expanding to bio-based fuels such as natural gas and biomethane. Onboarding a new site now takes about five hours. The product is trader-ready and already used by early trading entities.
Why we invested.
Certification is becoming a license to operate. Buyers want primary data and continuous verification at the asset. We underwrote atmen’s approach of combining on-site data capture with a software workflow for producers, verifiers, and traders. Early partnerships and design wins suggested a path to scale across commodities and to larger ACVs per customer.
